We counted with seeds, grew seeds and opened them up to see the little embryo (baby plant) inside the seeds.We were able to take the coat off of our seeds because we soaked them in water before our observations.The experience of growing vegetables, making salsa and then getting to taste the salsa was really fun for everyone!We were feeling pretty happy here...It was fun to dress up too!We have been working on the covers for our kindergarten showcase day which is coming up on Friday, May 10th at 7:20 in our classroom, right before the wonderful Mother's Day show with Mrs. Martin.So sweet...I shared a copy of "Blanket Boy" with the class a few weeks ago which my son, James wrote when he was little. He copied the style of Captain Underpants. I was quite surprised when Zan showed up one morning with his own version. The class really enjoyed hearing it and I was really proud of his creativity and effort. It is really fun to see my students inspire each other.Be prepared for the bean plants that will be coming home to you very very soon...They are getting really tall.The kids have been busy as bees researching about their ocean animals. It has been exciting work!Math is all about using the numbers between 10 and 20...Counting forwards and counting backwards...We are beginning to feel like first graders...Thank you so much for the baby wipe donations! They certainly help us to keep our classroom clean.The fifth graders invited us to come watch their classes launch their wonderful science experiments, hot air balloons and we were quite surprised and thrilled to see a giant balloon being launched as well. Luckily, our class was sitting right in front of the large balloon and we could see the fire heating the air while it was blowing into the balloon. It looking amazing and in sounded amazing. We were all feeling really lucky to experience this together. Here are the fifth grade experiments launching off with a lot of parent volunteers too.Another unforgettable day at Canyon Creek Elementary...Kindergarten kids are really excited about our big garden project. Today we planted our jalapeno plants and in a few weeks we will add in some cilantro. We are growing vegetables so we can eventually make some salsa for our Cinco De Mayo celebration in May.Ask your child what plants need to grow!Your generous donations help our learning to be extra fun. We thank you parents for the plants, seeds and soil that you shared with us.We used all of our senses to explore our pickles today in writing. We learned about words that help to describe things and applied that knowledge to writing spring poems.Science is so interesting when it is hands-on!We are wondering and asking ourselves how things work.You never know what you will find out when you experiment...Experimenting with lights...Thank you parent volunteers! We had a wonderful time!We really enjoyed making our own butter and tasting it this week!We love Dr. Seuss books a lot and celebrated his birthday too.Please dress warmly this week so we can go outside.We are so grateful to our room mother and volunteers!We learned about Abraham Lincoln for president's day!We wrote about the kinds of things we would do if we were presidents...In science we are learning about living and non-living things.We love to find ways to make 5! We are getting quicker at adding now too.Dear Parents, Thank you for attending our parade for the 100th day of kindergarten. We had a wonderful time marching through the hallways of Canyon Creek and visiting with everyone. It was a great day of all things involving the number 100. Our shirts had 100 things on them.We loved our parade!We counted to 100 by ones and tens.Our hats were kind of like masks!We met "Zero the Hero" and he answered our questions.For math we made ten tens for one hundred gumballs!Snack time was delicious with ten different types...It feels good to be 100 days smarter.This week we are exploring fairy tales and folktales. We are learning to add two numbers. We are working on writing lowercase letters too. In science we are learning about objects in the sky.
