Homework Helpers:
Our Tuesday folders will contain notes from the office. I believe there is also a service called "Peach Jar" that has these notes online.
Kindergarten children will have a daily blue folder that will contain their work completed at school. If you have important notes or lunch money to give the teacher, please use the blue folder and I will check them each day.
Reading to young children is very important for their language development. Children need to be spoken to, sang to and they need to play with rhyming words to develop that they need to be prepared for the reading and writing that are soon to come. Set aside time each day to enjoy good books and help your child to notice letters and words in their environment as they begin to learn to read.
Set up an early to bed routine on school nights and have a central location for shoes, back packs, daily folders and lunch boxes so the morning time is easier. Some people like to lay out clothing the night before. Thank you for all that you do to help with this transition to school.
We will be working on being independent in class and anything that you can do to encourage self reliance will be appreciated. Children gain confidence when they learn to do things for themselves.
I will send more information home later about our reading program where you can keep track of your reading time at home.
