It was so exciting to see the chicks on Friday!We wanted to hold them but that would have scared them.Our math games were extra fun this week. We pretended to make spaghetti and meatballs. We had to count out the order and then our partner checked our counting.Our ocean animal research groups have been very interesting.Non-fiction books are perfect for getting all of our questions answered!Painting is always fun in kindergarten!A shout out to Mrs. Bamford for making the book fair so exciting!Precious moments...In science we are learning about how scientists like to classify animals and then we sorted ourselves according to which animal necklace we were wearing.We keep finding numbers with a ten and some more! Every day we find different ways to build these larger numbers and play games with them.The best game was our "teen" number hunt. We had to find all of the numbers and it took a while to find them all.Writing poems about colors and rainbows is wonderful!In social studies we are learning about how the world has changed. We make some butter this week by shaking some heavy cream until it thickened. Then we had a snack! Yum!We love to watch the first grade's chicks hatching!We are busy watering our Jalepeno plants and our cilantro seeds. We have been exploring what animals and plants need to survive in science.It was interesting to see the parts of a plant up close!Here we are learning about bigger numbers and nearby numbers!We like to share our strategies in math so everyone understands. We are doing "ten and some more" for numbers in the teens!Poetry sounds better when we use all of our senses to write. So we ate some pickles this week to describe them and we will be using this experience to make our writing better.Kindergarten isn't just for reading and writing! We use our imaginations to play, pretend and learn to get along with others.Our lowercase letters are getting neater. We've been practicing our writing with our whiteboards.We have a new bird feeder outside our classroom window so we can observe the birds that visit!
