We had a very good start to kindergarten this week. We created our social contract together which is our promise to each other to listen, be kind, have effort, and remember to find the joy in our day as we learn and study together. We met all of our wonderful essentials teacher, Mrs. Martin for music, Mrs. Weir for art, and Coach Barnard for P.E. I had fun eating lunch with my students and getting some time to know them. Our class loved playing the name game "doggy doggy find your bone" to learn our classmates' names. We checked out all of the flexible seating options and brainstormed some rules to go with them.
Make sure to send ice water in bottles because this time of year can get very hot at recess. The healthy snacks from home have been really excellent. If your child seems tired, try a little earlier bedtime and really work on a consistent bedtime routine. This will help your child to feel safe as they adjust to school. I can't wait to see my little cardinals in the morning. I will be sending out our "behavior" system in the Tuesday folder this week so you can see how we help your child to make responsible choices at school.
We had such fun marching through the school for the storybook parade and I LOVED my birthday surprise so much! I'll never forget all of you and singing to me. It made me feel wonderful! Thank you!
