We brainstormed adjectives to describe our pumpkins and then we looked inside our pumpkins and scooped out the seeds. Each group had to find the total number of seeds by organizing them into groups of 2, 5 or 10. We also predicted how much our pumpkins weighed and then we used the science lab's scale to find each pumpkins total weight! This was a wonderful day of learning for us!

Second grade has been enjoying the new laptops in our hallway and it is allowing us much greater access to computers! We have been on Pebble Go, one of our favorite websites, to do research on bats and spiders this week. We are learning about the night sky and especially the moon in science right now. Today we did experiments that showed us how the sun's light reflects onto the moon's surface. Then we made the phases of the moon out of paper and finally we had our assessment. That was the best part because we made each phase with Oreos!
The kids voted to have a pajama day with stuffed animals and we had a wonderful time together! We were discovering what happens when we put food coloring in different temperatures of water; icy, room temperature or very hot!
The kids were discovering which materials the light could go through and which materials reflected the light!
We had a great time together at the Thinkery Children's Museum. I hope you will keep taking your kids there. What a engaging way to learn about science. Thank you so much to all of our parents volunteers! You made today great!
